An Accomplished Career With the Largest Historically Unprecedented Verdict in a Very Significant Case

After the retirement of his late father, Walter C. Foulke, Jr., who had established the Foulke Law Firm in 1961, Evan M. Foulke, Esq. moved the Foulke Law Firm from Auburn, New York to Goshen, New York, where he formally became the firm's managing partner. At that time, he had already served 10 years as a trial litigator for two of the country’s leading law firms in New York City in addition to more than 21 years within his own Goshen, New York and New Jersey practice under the name, Foulke Law Offices. Mr. Foulke has been successfully trying cases and representing clients in personal injury and discrimination cases for more than 30 years.

With a long history of taking successful jury verdicts in state and federal courts in New York and New Jersey on behalf of his clients, Mr. Foulke has multiple verdicts in excess of $1 million. In 2015 the New York Law Journal named Mr. Foulke to the Trial Lawyers Hall of Fame in recognition of a series of successful jury verdicts in the New York City metropolitan area. In December 2017, Mr. Foulke took the largest verdict ever recorded ($5,299,000 total judgment) against the State of New York on behalf of a client who tragically died after a fire at a State-run facility.

The State of New York has hired Evan as special trial counsel to defend State employees wrongly accused of discrimination.

Mr. Foulke has written and argued numerous appeals in state and federal courts in New York and New Jersey, including the First Department, Second Department, Third Department, and Fourth Department in New York, the Appellate Division of New Jersey, as well as the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

Education

Mr. Foulke received a Bachelor of Arts Degree (cum laude) from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. In 1990, Mr. Foulke received a Juris Doctorate (cum laude) from Albany Law School, where he served as Editor of the Albany Law Review and graduated as a member of the Justinian Honor Society for academic excellence.

Valuable Experience Over 30 Years With Some of the Country's Most Recognized Law Firms

From 1990 to 1995, Mr. Foulke practiced in the civil litigation department at Kelley Drye & Warren, one of the country's leading law firms employing over 400 lawyers, located at 101 Park Avenue, New York, New York. While at Kelley Drye & Warren, Mr. Foulke practiced exclusively civil trial litigation in state and federal courts across the country. Mr. Foulke's skills as a trial lawyer were sharpened in defending personal injury actions brought by individuals against the New York City Housing Authority and defending Liberty Mutual Insurance Company against personal injury claims. Mr. Foulke also defended Union Carbide for claims arising out of the Bhopal tragedy in December 1984 in Bhopal, India, a tragedy in which over 200,000 Indian citizens were injured, and over 2,000 people were killed.

Between 1995 and 1997, Mr. Foulke worked as a Senior Associate in the civil litigation department at Reid & Priest, a leading law firm employing over 200 attorneys in New York City. While at Reid & Priest, Mr. Foulke prosecuted civil actions against former conflicted directors and officers of failed Savings and Loans and defended corporate clients in various contract cases and securities litigation. In 1997 and 1998, Mr. Foulke served as Senior Trial Lawyer for an insurance defense law firm prosecuting and defending a wide variety of actions involving product liability, personal injury, negligence, legal malpractice, medical malpractice, and discrimination throughout the New York metropolitan area.
